ENGR. PROF. ADESOJI A. ADESINA, NNOM

Professor Adesoji Adediran Adesina, NNOM, born on April 2nd, 1959, graduated from the University of Lagos with a 1st class honours degree in Chemical Engineering in 1980. In September 1982, he proceeded to the University of Waterloo, Canada for graduate studies which culminated in the receipt of his PhD in 1986 under the auspices of the Canadian Commonwealth Scholarship & Fellowship Program.  

In 1991, Prof. Adesina joined the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia as a lecturer and rose to full professorship in 2004. At UNSW, he initiated and developed an internationally renowned group in Reactor Engineering & Technology, attracting nearly 20 million dollars in competitive peer-reviewed research grants. 

Prof. Adesina has published over 450 refereed papers and has a patent to his credit. He produced 50 PhD students and 64 Masters project students during his career.  

 He has won many awards such as Best Professor for Teaching, Research Innovation Award both given by UNSW, and recently the Nigerian National Order of Merit– highest national honors for outstanding scholarly achievements given by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2017. 

He has made various contributions to the engineering profession including Acting Head, School of Chemical Engineering, UNSW and member of Editorial/Advisory Board of several reputable international journals in chemical engineering and catalysis. 

He is a fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute and the Institution of Chemical Engineering, UK; a member of many professional bodies such as Engineers Australia, American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers.
