Prof. Muhammad Hamisu Muhammad, a former Vice Chancellor of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, was born on 9th September 1960. He obtained first and second degrees in Mechanical Engineering in 1985 and 1990, respectively, from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and Ph.D. in Production Engineering in 1999 from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi.
In 1986, he joined the services of ATBU, formerly Abubakar Tafawa Balewa College, Bauchi and rose to become a professor of Mechanical Engineering in 2005. Prof. Muhammad has more than 25 referred journal publications, several conferences and technical reports. He has supervised to completion many M.Eng. and PhD students. In 2004, he led a team that won second prize award in the First National Competition on Process Plant Design organized by the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Abuja.
Before serving as the Vice Chancellor of the ATBU, Bauchi, Prof. Muhammad was a Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Director, Centre for Industrial Studies and Head of Department of the Mechanical/Production Engineering at ATBU. He was at a time the Chairman, Committee of `Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities. Prof. Muhammad has been serving as an External Examiner/Assessor to many Universities.
He is also a registered engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, member of many professional societies and Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
