ENGR. PROF. M. O. FABORODE
Born on 22nd September, 1956 in Supare, Ondo State. Prof. Michael Oladimeji Faborode attended Victory College, Ikare-Akoko in 1968-1972.Thereafter, he proceeded to University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he graduated with First Class B.Sc. degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1973-1978, a Master of Science in Agricultural Engineering in 1983 and, PHD Agricultural Engineering from the University of Newcastle, UK between 1983-1986.
Prof. Faborode did his National Youth Service Corps as Instructor at the School of Agriculture & Fisheries Port Harcourt in 1978/1979 service year. He was Site Engineer, Rabba Irrigation Project, Mokwa in 1979-1980. Between 1980-1983, he was Research Assistant, International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, and Lecture II at Federal Polytechnic, AKure (now Ado-Ekiti). In 1986-1989 he joined the academic teaching staff of Obafemi Awolowo as Lecturer 1 and was promoted Senior Lecturer in 1992. In 1992-196, Reader, Department of Agricultural Engineering and became Professor of Agricultural Engineering in 1996. He had held management position at the Obafemi Awolowo University which include; Member and Vice President Governing Council of COREN representing University; Coordinator DFID/NRSP funded OAU-Newcastle-SUA (Tanzania), Chairman, Committee of Dean, Committee of Deans of Engineering Technology; Member, Appointments and Promotions Committee, Development Committee and its-sub-committees, Central University Strategic Plan, Board of Postgraduate, Board of the Central for Agricultural Strategy, Governing Board of the Ondo State College of Education, Governing Council of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Management Board, Central Science Laboratory, Technologist Training Scheme, and in 2006-2011, he was appointment Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University. Prof. Faborode research extensively in areas on rural environments and livelihood, biomaterial properties and bioprocess engineering with emphasis on crop storage, biosafety and the deformation mechanics of biomaterials, thermophysical properties and conservation drying of tropical crops and technology policy on machine commercialization and diffusion of innovation, innovation competitiveness and technical change in agriculture, environmental impact of agricultural mechanization , gender analysis, natural resources management and rural development. He has written many books and has published in several journals.
Prof. Faborode received the Nigerian Society of Engineers Merit Award in 1989, the National University Commission 40th Anniversary OAU distinguished Alumni Merit Award for special contribution to Agricultural Technology Development and the Association of Professional Bodies Bodies of Nigeria Professional Excellence Award.
Prof. Faborode is a COREN Registered Engineer, Member, Commonwealth Association for Development, Nigeria Materials Society, Nigerian Biomathematics Society, American Society of Agricultural Engineers, Fellow, Nigerian Society of Agriculture Engineers, Nigerian Society of Engineers and Honorary Fellow, Nigerian Institute of Builders.
