Born on 19th March, 1950, Engr. Prof. Oluremi Olatunbosun attended Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos, for his Ordinary and Advanced Level Studies (1963 – 68). Thereafter, he proceeded in September 1969 to the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom from where he obtained B.Sc. degree in Mechanical Engineering with First Class Honours in June 1972 and M.Sc. (Mechanical Engineering) degree in June 1974. On the basis of his excellent performance he was given an immediate admission in June 1974 to study for a PhD degree at the University of Birmingham, UK where he was appointed Research Fellow in October 1975 and received a Ph.D. (Mechanical Engineering) degree in December 1976.

In December 1976, he joined the Mechanical Engineering Department at the University of Lagos where in was involved with the teaching of both undergraduates and postgraduate students, conducting research and providing consultancy services to industry. Between 1978 and 1980 Prof. Olatunbosun was on leave of absence from the University of Lagos to hold a position as Research and Development Engineer with British Leyland Cars Ltd., UK. During this period, he benchmarked the NVH performance of the Company’s rival products, developed structural dynamic performance standards for BIW structures and applied the developed standards in the upgrading of the Company’s own products.

As a Senior Lecturer at the University of Lagos between 1981 and 1988, Prof. Olatunbosun was an Associate Consultant to the Automotive Engineering Centre, University of Birmingham and a Consultant, Product validation to Volkswagen of Nigeria (VON) Ltd. During this period, he was providing consultancy services to the UK Automotive industry and assisting with the adaptation of Volkswagen vehicles to the local environment. 

As a distinguished Automobile Engineer of International repute, Prof. Olatunbosun left Nigeria in 1988 to be a Research Fellow at the Automotive Engineering Centre, University of Birmingham where he was responsible for managing research and consultancy projects with the Automobile Industry. In 1993, he was appointed a Senior Lecturer in the School of Manufacturing & Mechanical Engineering, University of Birmingham; carrying out teaching and  research at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels in addition to managing and executing research and consultancy projects. In October 2004 he was appointed the Head, Vehicle Dynamics Laboratory at the University of Birmingham, providing research and consultancy services in vehicle dynamics, noise and vibration to the UK and European Automotive industry including OEMs such as Rolls-Royce, Jaguar, Land Rover and MG-Rover, Tyre manufacturers such as Dunlop, Michelin and Goodyear and various SMEs.

Engr. Prof. Oluremi Olatunbosun has over ninety technical publications to his credit. He has been a Visiting Professor to both the University of Lagos in Nigeria (2007 – 2008) and the Carlos III University, Madrid, Spain (2010 – 2012). He is on the editorial Board of journals such as the International Journal of Engineering Simulation and the Journal of Vehicle Structures Analysis and Optimization.

Prof. Olatunbosun is a COREN Registered Engineer, a Fellow of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK, Senior Member, Society of Manufacturing Engineers, USA, Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers and Member, Society of Automotive Engineers (2006). He was President, Engineering Forum of Nigerians, (UK) from 2009 to 2011. He is happily married with children.
