Prof. Adeyemi was born on January 9th, 1944 in Offa Kwara State. Attended the Iyeru-Okin African Church Primary School and graduated in 1957, Offa Grammar School, Offa (1958-1962). Okene Secondary School, Okene (1963-64) for the Higher School Certificate He was appointed as the library prefect in 1962.
He had his undergraduate University education at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1965-1968), graduated with B. Sc. (Civil Engineering), Second Class Upper division. For his undergraduate education. He was awarded the Nigerian Railway Corporation Scholarship.
He resumed work in Nigerian Railway Corporation as a pupil Engineer in 1968. As part of his pupillage training, he attended the Permanent Way School, Poona, India, he was attached to the Northern Railways of India. After training in India, he then proceeded for the attachment to the British Railways for further practical experiences.
In 1970, he was awarded African-American Institution Scholarship for graduate studies in Environmental Engineering at the Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, U.S.A (1970-1972) and obtained M.Sc in Environmental Engineering.
He proceeded to University of Wisconsin – Madison, Wisconsin U.S.A and obtained PhD (Civil Environmental Engineering) in 1976.
He joined the service of Department of Civil Engineering Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria – 1976 as Lecturer-I. He was a Senior Lecturer from 1978 to 1981.
He joined the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Ilorin, Ilorin in 1982 as an Associate Professor and Acting Head of Department. He was appointed full Professorship of Civil Engineering ad Head of Department in 1984 and later in 1988 was elected as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
In 1990, he was appointed the Vice-Chancellor Federal University of Technology, Minna, Niger State (1990-1994). During his tenure, he succeeded in putting all the academic programmes on sound footing and started the development of the Permanent Site of the University.
He led the team at Unilorin and FUT, Minna that undertook the feasibility studies and Design of Gurara Inter Basin Water Transfer to augment water to Shiroro Dam for hydro-power, Lower Usman Dam for water supply to Abuja and Izom for irrigation.
He retired from the services of the University in 1997. In 1998, he become the Managing Partner of CIWAT Engineering Consultants, a firm of Engineering Consultants specializing in Civil Water and Environmental Engineering and Project Management.
As Project Manager, the firm had undertaken consulting services for the Design and Supervision of several projects for the Defunct Petroleum trust Fund (PTF), Federal Ministries (Water, Environment, Works), River Basin Development Authorities , State Water corporations and Universities . The projects include:-Utility Buildings, Lecture Theatres, Roads, Dams, Water Treatment Plants, Water Transmission mains, Water Distribution Network, Reinforced Concrete Service Reservoirs etc.
For public service, he served as a member of Governing councils of Kwara State College of Technology (1981-1983), Usman Dan-Fodio University (1984-1987) member of COREN Council (1984-1986) , Chairman, Niger River Basin Development Authority, Minna, (1986-1988), Chairman Governing Council of College of Education (Technical) Lafiagi, (1997-1999).
He’s married to Prof. (Mrs.) Sidikat Adeyemi with four grown-up children.
