IBIYEMI, Tunji Samuel was born on 2nd January 1954 at Aiyetoro-Gbedde, Kogi State. He  obtained Council of Engineering Institution, CEI (UK) Part II (equivalent to Bachelor degree in UK) in Electronics Engineering  from Cambridge Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Uk ; Master of Science  (1980) and PhD (1982) degrees in Electrical Engineering (Computer & Control)from University of Bradford, Bradford, England .

Engr. Professor Tunji Samuel, IBIYEMI became a full professor of  Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Computer & Control ) on  1st  October 1997  (i.e. over 21 years as  Professor) . He has over 36 years of  post-Ph.D  university teaching and research experience . He became   a corporate member of Nigerian Society of Engineers (1986), chartered Engineer (UK, 1986),  and also a registered engineer with COREN (1991).

He has various administrative experiences: (i) Vice Chancellor, Achievers University, Owo  ( 1 April 2014- To Date);  (ii) Dean/Provost,  College of  Science & Technology, Covenant  University, Ota  ( March 2002 – July 2005); and (iii) Head of Department, University of Ilorin, Ilorin ( Up to 12 years). As Vice Chancellor , he introduced vocational skill acquisition for every student as additional to their degrees. He also started engineering programmes in the  University. And at Covenant University,  he  introduced modern teaching delivery via the use of audio-visuals  for presentation of  lectures and seminars as a culture in the entire Covenant University right from inception.

He has successfully supervised, up to date, 16 Ph.Ds; and 100 Master degrees in  both Electrical & Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science , Four (5) of  those PhD he successfully supervised are now full professors . He has being serving  on NUC programmes as member /chairman (accreditations, curriculum developments, benchmarking , etc) since 1991.He drafted the ICT , Computer Engineering, and Telecommunications Engineering  curricula being  used in NUC’s BMAS  both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He proposed  CGPA of 1.5 to be the  minimum for a student to be  in Good  Standing thereby forming the basis for the eradication of pass degree  in Nigerian Universities to NUC in 2005 now accepted as a national standard in the new BMAS .

He was a member of  Panel that drafted in 2007 the national policy on” Producing the first Nigerian Astronaut, and the development of  the first Nigerian made satellite and its launch vehicle”  . He is member of Technical Advisory Committee  at National Space Research Development  Agency, NARSDA,  Abuja .

He was/is  External Examiner to many universities and  Polytechnics in Nigeria; and  served as member  of PIC for  four  Proposed Private Universities.

He has 57  publications in national and international  journals and proceedings .Two of his inventions are adjudged by the World Intellectual Property Organization, WIPO, as among the 1,000 world inventions in 2004 in  Japan . He won Federal Government STEP-B Research Grant   in Biometric Signal Processing for Personal Identification and Forensic Application. He is processing FIVE patent applications resulting from the research outcome. Alsohe won TETFund research grant to Design and build an experimental Remote Sensing Micro-satellite in house.
