Engr. Professor Yinusa Alaro Jimoh, FNSE, holds first and higher degrees in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 1975 and University of Ilorin, Ilorin 1987, 1991. Engr. Jimoh was born on 10th January, 1951 at Okanle, Omupo District, Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State. He is a Nigerian by birth. He is also a fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers and the Nigerian Geotechnical Association. His current place of abode is Plot 11 Veterinary Clinic Road, Agric Area, GRA, Ilorin.

On completion of NYSC from Niger State in 1976, he commenced engineering training with a 30 months construction experience at Julius Berger/Bilfinger Nig Ltd, and Alfonso & Co, Ojoo Ibadan on marine and wharf and road/building projects respectively. He commenced academic in 1979 with the Kwara College of Technology, Ilorin.   He has been teaching & researching in civil engineering for 19 years in the Polytechnic and 18 years in the University with emphasis in infrastructural facilities engineering, procurement, maintenance and operation. His research focus has been in engineering materials for constructions, including geotechnics of pavement with development of innovative paving materials. Degradable biomass and non-degradable wastes recycling for road system cost effectiveness and environmental sustainability. A remarkable research is the concrete block pavement for remedial works for infrastructure facility on poor soils prevailing in the oil rich Niger delta, commissioned to the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Ilorin by the Nigerian Shell Development Company, Western Division Warri in 1990/91. This was the direct benefit of his Ph.D Thesis. He has supervised a number of doctorate degree master degree programmes and credited with large volume of published works in international and national journals of high repute.

He was the Materials Engineer for the World Bank 7th Highway Sector Loan for the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, 1993-1996 and Materials Specialist under the Institutional Strengthening of Highways Department of State Ministry of Works, Oyo state component of Multistate Road Project, 1994-1996 for the consortium of Sheladia Associates, New York and Yolas Consultants, Nigeria.

Administratively, he demonstrated remarkable leadership qualities during the departmental headship and faculty deanship at the University of Ilorin. He encouraged the creation of new programmes and all the ten engineering programmes under were successfully presented for accreditation and re-accreditation of both the NUC and COREN. He has contributed to resource and institutional improvement strategies with the training in highway and pavement engineering and quality assurance in engineering education and training. He was a member of the 5-man review panel for the development of Nigerian Highway Manual in 2013. He was a recipient of the 46th NSE Conference paper award in 2013, Abuja, Research excellence award by the committee of Vice chancellors of Nigerian Universities, 2016, Abuja among others.

Engr. Jimoh is happily married to Mrs Olukemi Oladejobi (nee Daramola) with children and grandchildren.
