Engr. Kayode Sote was born on November 28, 1952 at Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. He attended Ijebu Muslim College, Ijebu-Ode, (WAEC, 1970), Government College, Ibadan (HSC, 1972) and University of Lagos, B.Sc (Hons.) Mechanical Engineering, 1976. A Mechanical Engineer with specialization in oil, gas and lubrication engineering. Working Career Worked with multinational companies in Nigeria and abroad: Shell Petroleum, Total Oil, Solar Gas Turbines/ CEC and Mobil Oil before setting-up Lubeservices Associates, the first indigenous consulting firm in the downstream oil and gas industry in Nigeria. Attended many courses and worked in Nigeria, Senegal, Cameroun, France, Algeria, Italy and United Kingdom. Working career and experience cover petroleum exploration/production, lubricants formulation, blending, marketing, quality assurance, research & development, equipment lubrication, plant audit, equipment valuation & maintenance, technical publication, human capital development. Professional Services Consulted for many local and international companies on oil, gas & environmental resources, services and management. In collaboration with other engineers, designed and fabricated oil thief pumps, ullage dip sticks, T-Bars, measurement cans, drum trollies, installed many LPG filling plants, lube oil and grease blending plants, retail outlets, storage tank farms, plastic moulds for lube oil packaging. Conducted technical audit, integrity tests, ISO certification and quality assurance services on tank farms, pipelines and lube blending plants, Contributed over 120 technical papers in professional journals and newspapers; presented papers as a resource person to many professional bodies, commercial and business groups; authored 4 technical books and 1 journal which have become reference compendia in petroleum products and lubrication industry, Quality, Safety, Health & Environment (QSHE) in manuscript awaiting publication, published 5 other books on diversed areas of interest, conducted over 100 training programme, workshops and seminars; trained over 4,500 engineers, technicians, academicians and other key personnel in various industries in Nigeria and from abroad. Packaged the National Book Development Policy for Education Trust Fund, (ETF now known as TETFUND) which provides over N2billion as intervention fund dedicated for the publication of books and journals to Colleges and Tertiary Institutions.
