Engr. Bayo Olarewaju-Alo was born in Ilesha (Osun State) on 30th July 1952. He attended the Native Authority Primary School, Birnin Gwari in Kaduna State and  Ilesha Grammar School and obtained WASC with an aggregate of 13 in 1971. He then proceeded to the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1972 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1977. He served the National Youth Service scheme with Shell in Warri in 1977 and formally joined the company as a trainee field engineer in 1978. Between 1978 and 1986 he worked as pipeline, flow station, gas plants and terminal design and construction engineer in Warri and Lagos. In Feb 1986 he was seconded to Shell Exploration and Production, UK where in collaboration with ICI, developed a process to remove low level H2S from natural gas from North Sea fields with a novel technology using zinc oxide beds. In 1988 he was transferred to Netherland Oil and Gas Company (a subsidiary of Shell International) as a process engineer charged with the responsibility of optimising gas plant capacity and increasing throughput with little or no capital investment. In 1990 Engr. Olarewaju-Alo retuned to Nigeria to head the Appraisal and Process Development of Shell and commenced the pioneer role of monetising flare gas. He was the Technical Lead, in the Shell / NNPC team that developed AGFA – Associated Gas Framework Agreement which was adopted by the Federal Government to incentivise associated gas projects for all Oil companies in Nigeria. In 1992 he was appointed the pioneer Associated Gas Gathering Projects Manager by SPDC. Between 1995 and 1997 he was appointed Chief Engineer, and Engineering Manager Eastern Division in Port Harcourt. Engr Olarewaju-Alo held the following Management appointments: Development Manager Eastern Swamp 1997 – 1999 Production Services Manger 1999 – 2003 Acting GM Production, Eastern Division – 2003 Major Projects Manager, Western Division, Warri 2004 – 2005 Manager Pipelines, Civil & Medium Projects 2005 – 2008 GM Engineering Aug 2008 – June 2011. Engr. Olarewaju-Alo retired from Shell in June 2011 after 33 years of meritorious service in the upstream Exploration and Production sector of the oil and gas industry. Post retirement he remains active as a Principal Consultant and managing partner in AVODAN Project and Engineering Services Ltd. He is actively involved in training and mentoring of younger engineers in Oil and Gas Facilities and Project Management and execution. Engr. Olarewaju-Alo is a registered professional engineer (COREN), a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers (FNSChE), a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) and Project Management Institute (PMI). Engr. Olarewaju-Alo main interest is in Facility and Process Engineering, Project Management and Safety in which he has published papers both locally and internationally. He is married to Dr (Mrs.) Adetutu Olarewaju-Alo and the union is blessed with two children. He enjoys golf and service to God and humanity.
