Engr. Felix Atume, FNSE, mni completed his Secondary Education at the famous Government College Keffi in June 1976. He graduated from Ahmadu Bello University in 1981 with a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering. He returned to Ahmadu Bello University and obtained a Master's Degree in Highways Engineering and Transportation in 1991.
Engr. Atume also holds an MBA (Management) from the Benue State University. Engr. Atume started his working career with the Benue State Government where he rose to the rank of Director of Civil Engineering. He served as the Director of Benue State Rural Development Agency, BERDA.
Engr. Atume was appointed the Honourable Commissioner for Works in Benue from 1997 – 1999. During this period, over 22 towns in Benue State were electrified. Many bridges were built. The Benue Plaza Abuja, the Kontogora Arts Theatre, Assembly quarters, Nyiman Layout and many other projects were executed.
He served the Nigerian Society of Engineers as the Executive Secretary from 2003 to 2005 where he voluntarily left to lecture at the Federal University of Technology Minna as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering. He had also lectured at the Federal University of Agriculture Makurdi from 1992 to 2000 as a visiting lecturer.
Engr. Atume has written and presented many technical papers on Highways Engineering and Transportation. He has good knowledge on Public-Private Partnership Projects. Engr. Atume served as the Registrar of Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN from March 12, 2007 to March 2013. This was the time COREN witnessed the highest number of Registered Engineering Personnel. The present Headquarters of COREN was also built during the tenure of Engr. Felix Atume as the Registrar of COREN. Engr. Felix Atume also served as the Secretary General of the Federation of African Organizations of Engineers from 2007 - 2012.
He represented the African Continent as a National Member of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations, WFEO. He is an Alumnus of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru. Engr. Felix Atume is the Chairman of AD-Team Limited, a firm of Consulting Engineers involved in Civil and Structural Engineering. The firm is the structural Engineers to the Nigerian Deposit and Insurance Corporation on the 12-Storey Building in Lekki Phase 1.
Engr. Atume joined active politics in 2013 and has contested the Primaries for the Benue state gubernatorial election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2014 and 2018 but has not been successful. Engr. Atume belongs to many International Clubs including, Ikoyi Club 1938, IBB Golf Club, Makurdi Club 1930 and Abuja Country Club. Engr. Felix Atume is widely traveled. He is married with children.
