Engr. Anthony Olufemi Shobo was born on 26th May 1931. He attended University College. Ibadan for the Intermediate Bachelor of Science degree and later transferred to University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology in September 1954 where he graduated B.Sc Chemical Engineering.
He worked as a Chemical Engineer trainee with the Blue Circle Cement Company, UK. Between 1957 and 1969; He returned to Nigeria to join the Nigerian affiliate Company, West Africa Portland Cement Company, Ewekoro, Ogun State. In 1990, he joined Lever Brothers Nigeria Limited as Assistant Development Manager and rose to the positions of Development Manager, 1963; General Development Manager, 1967; General Production Manager, 1970; and General Technical Manager, 1977 until his voluntary retirement in 1984.
Engr. Shobo is a MANCUNIAN (Alumni Association of Universities in Manchester). He was the Honorary Secretary of MANCUNIAN Society of Nigeria, Vice President 1997-1998 and he is currently the President of the Association.
He served on the Board of Nigerian Gas Company, Council of Registered Engineers of Nigeria, Foods and Drugs Advisory Council of Nigeria, Industrial Research Council of Nigeria, Council of Lagos State Polytechnic and Science and Technology Committee of Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
He is a Fellow of the British Institute of Chemical Engineers, Foundation President of Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Foundation Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Engineering and the Royal Society of Chemists, UK.
