Dr. Ibilola Amao is a First Class Honours degree holder in Civil and Structural Engineering from the University of London, UK. She is an Alumnus of the Manchester Business School and holds a Ph.D. in Computer-Aided-Design and Draughting (CADD) from Bradford University, UK (1985 – 1989). Born on 18th January, 1965, Dr. Amao is a Nigerian with British Citizenship, and resides more in Nigeria.
Dr. Amao is the Principal Consultant of Lonadek Inc. which was established in 1991. She is the Chairperson for the Industry Advisory Team, Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board, Advisory Board Member of PennWell Offshore West Africa, a Fellow and member of the Governing Council of the Energy Institute (EI), UK, a member of the Board of the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) Business Group in Nigeria, a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), a certified HR professional with the Chartered Institute of Personnel Managers (CIPM), a member of the Institute of Director’s Programmes Committee, and a Project Consultant for Vision 2020: Youth Empowerment and Restoration Initiative (YERI).
Dr. Amao as a Civil and Structural Engineer is committed to national development and socio-economic transformation. Between October 1992 and September 2003, Ibilola served as an “in-house” consultant at the National Engineering and Technical Company (NETCO) Limited where she brought her competence in CADD to bear in the implementation of Computer systems. Ibilola trained over 200 NETCO staff who are now senior professionals, leaders and executives in various hydrocarbon jurisdictions globally. World-class projects handled in NETCO include: Shell 34 Flow Stations, Chevron Escravos Gas Project, Shell BONGA, Exxon Mobil etc. Lonadek has conducted various skills gaps surveys and analysis for Chevron, STAR Deep, Petroleum Technology Development Fund and Shell/Equity Energy Resources.
Consequent to her desire to develop Human Capacity and Nigerian Content in Energy, Power, Infrastructure, Oil and Gas, Dr. Amao through Lonadek forged strategic partnerships with: AVEVA Engineering IT Solutions, Bentley Engineering Systems, the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineers (AACE), Bank of Industry and Yaba College of Technology.
Dr. Amao is committed to developing tomorrow’s leaders, strategic thinkers and planners who can be groomed to make a difference. As a committed change agent she invests her time and effort in career counseling, industry awareness and youth empowerment which led to the formation of “Vision 2020: Youth Empowerment & Restoration Initiative (YERI)” a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) driven Programme. Since inception in May 2006, the Vision 2020: Over 92,000 STEM talent have participated in YERI activities such as the career counseling industry awareness workshops, summer camp, science project competition and after school program.
Her achievements include; initiation of the Oil and Gas Design Engineers of Nigeria (OGDEN), Queen’s Excellence Award with Bechtel UK and NETCO, MMS Award for Youth Empowerment, Access Bank “W” 100 Award, Vital Voices USA VV100 Award, IWEC Award for Women in business and EI Energy Champion Nomination.
