Akindele Folarin Alonge is a Professor in the Department of Agricultural and Food Engineering, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. He has served as HOD (2010-Jan 2015) and Vice Dean of Engineering (April 2011-Jan 2015). He is area of Postharvest Technology, Food Process Engineering and Solar Energy applications to Agriculture. He is a Registered Engineering with Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) and he has been a COREN Resource person in accreditation of Agricultural Engineering, Food Engineering and Water Resources Engineering to Universities in Nigeria for several years. President, International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CIGR) Aug till Date. CIGR is the umbrella body of the Society of Agricultural Engineers worldwide.   He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (FNIAE) He is a Fellow of the Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (FSESN) He is a member of several International professional associations including American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE), Canadian Society of BioEngineering (CSBE), Pan African Society for Agricultural Engineering (PASAE), International Society of Horticultural Science (ISHS) and International Association of Advanced Materials He is a member of several national professional bodies including the Nigerian Institution of Food Science and Technologists (NIFST), Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) Chartered and Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN) He was the Director of Membership Services of NSE (Feb 2015- Jan 2016) and has served in several committees of NSE including Technical, International Affairs and Innovation Committees. He has published over 100 papers in both local and International journals. He reviews paper for over 15 International Journals and an Advisory Board member of five local and international journals. He has supervised over 120 students at both graduate and undergraduate levels. He has been external examiner to several universities in Nigeria and PhD Examiner to University of KwazuluNatal, South Africa and Universiti Putra, Malaysia.  He is a Visiting Professor to McGill University, Montreal, Canada Past President of the African Network Group of ASABE and served in several committees of ASABE He is the Regional Chairman, South-South of the Nigerian Institution of Agricultural Engineers (NIAE) He is the Vice President of Netherlands Institutions Alumni Association of Nigeria (NIAAN), Aeres University/PTC+ Chapter (Dairy Group) He has won several local and International Awards including the latest Presidential Award of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) in July 2020. He is married to Mrs Catherine Modupe Alonge, a University Administrator and blessed with a good family.
