Engr. John Ayodele is an accomplished electrical engineer with a career spanning over 44 years in the private and public sectors both in Nigeria, West Africa and the United States of America. He has effectively distinguished himself in areas of Power Systems Engineering, Construction Operation, and strategic policy formulation.

He is an expert in Power Systems Analysis, Protection and Control operations and has been responsible for building landmark robust power systems within and beyond the shores of Nigeria. He has built a reputation of delivering solutions to complex technical and geographically challenging issues in the provision of power, leveraging on his deep knowledge and vast experience in operational processes in the industry.

This track record was responsible for his repeated selection to represent the Federal Government of Nigeria at several local and international fora to present papers.

Engr. John Ayodele began the academic foundation of his laudable achievements from his undergraduate days at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he obtained a B.Eng degree in Electrical Engineering. He attended the Penn State University/Westinghouse Advanced System Technology Course in Pittsburgh, PA, USA, Advanced Relay School, Westinghouse, Coral Springs Florida, USA; General Electric/ Union College, Schenectady, NY, USA, (for the prestigious Power Systems Engineering Course).

He has also attended various courses in Public-Private-Partnership as well as Project Financing and Analysis. He is an Alumni of IP3 and of PURC, Gainesville, Florida, USA.   His unblemished public sector career in the Nigerian Power Sector saw him occupying various positions in project management, where he rose to Executive Director (Operations), at PHCN.

Engr. Ayodele transferred his services to the Federal Ministry (Power) in 2009, as Director (Investment and Sector Development), Federal Ministry of Power, Abuja and within 2months, was redeployed back to PHCN TAS Executive Director Operation, a position he held until 2011 before resuming back as Director in the Ministry of Power. , in 2012 as per service-wide posting, he was transferred to the Ministry of Communication Technology as Director, Telecoms and Postal Services, before he retired from public service in 2014. Beyond the shores of Nigeria, he was appointed the Pioneer West Africa Power Pool (WAPP) Manager at the ECOWAS Energy Observatory (Information Centre) in Cotonou, Benin Republic.  

He subsequently was appointed in 2015 as the Deputy Managing Director of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc, IBEDC, the largest successor power distribution company in Nigeria covering several states and in 2020 he became the Chief Operating Officer in 2018, and Ag Managing Director in 2020, a position he held till September 2022.  

He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical Electronics Engineers, and a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. He is a former Chairman of the Electrical Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.  

Engr. Ayodele is happily married to Dr. Mrs. Quincy Olasunmbo Ayodele and they are blessed with children and grandchildren.
