Senator (Dr) Iyiola Omisore, CON, is a Nigerian Prince, Politician, Businessman, Philanthropist and Engineer, who is the incumbent National Secretary of the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). He was born on September 15, 1957 into the royal family of Oba David Olajide Omisore in Ile-Ife, Osun state.
Dr Omisore was Deputy Governor of Osun State, (1999- 2003), and Senator in the 5th and 6th National Assemblies, (2003- 2011). Within this period, he chaired six Senate Committees including Appropriations, Intergovernmental Affairs, Joint Finance, Culture and Tourism and UNDP/ NASS Implementation Committees.
As a Senator, his focus was to improve infrastructural development of, especially, road networks and water supply, some of which included the Dualisation of Mayfair-Lagere-Enuwa-Moore-Ilesha Bye pass-Akure roads, and the construction of Multipurpose dams in Ife-Ijesha, Oyan, Yemoji, Ijebu Ode and Ogbese. On Education and Youth Empowerment, his scholarship program draws beneficiaries from within and outside Osun state.
Omisore holds two engineering degrees and a postgraduate certificate from Brunel University Uxbridge, as well as a PhD in Infrastructure Finance and a DBA (in view) from the International School of Management, Paris, France. He is a highly accomplished Engineer whose professional excellence has earned him numerous fellowships in the discipline. He started his early professional life in 1983 with Drake and Gordham while in the UK, rising to top management positions. Two years later, he was brought back to Nigeria by its Nigerian division, Drake and Scull (Nig) Ltd where he honed his project management skills. He later established his own firms; Chrisore Engineering Limited, Mechelec Consultants, and Iyiola Omisore and Associates where he successfully managed several World Bank sponsored developmental projects.
Senator Iyiola Omisore is a grass root politician, a political mobiliser and a community man, who remains deeply involved in the development of his community and Nation. In line with his royal heritage, he provides paternal support and parental guidance to a large number of young persons in his community.
He has been conferred with several traditional titles by different communities across Nigeria where he has won the admiration of the people. Some of the titles include the Apesin Oodua of the Source, Ile Ife, the Asiwaju Balogun of Ibadan land, the High Chief Lisa of Osogbo land, and the “Zege Huror u Kwande man ishan na” a title conferred on him by the people of Kwande, Benue State, among several others.
Senator Iyiola Omisore is known for his kindness and love for his people. His philanthropic activities span over several decades of actively empowering the youths of his immediate constituency and across the nation. He has personally funded or facilitated the funding of over two hundred and fifty (250) projects spread across the states in Nigeria.
Senator Iyiola Omisore is happily married to a Barrister and Solicitor, Mojisola Omisore (née Fasuba), of Ekiti State. Senator Iyiola Omisore remains a major political bridge builder in Nigeria and a leading Pan-Nigerian politician whose views on national political issues shape public opinion.
