Engr. Victor Olumide Dania was born on October 28, 1949 to the Venerable Josiah Lewis Dania family of Okpe, Akoko-Edo LGA of Edo State. He attended Govt. College, Ibadan from where he won a Shell-BP scholarship to study Mechanical Engineering at the Loughborogh University of Technology,. Since joining Shell after graduating in 1972, Engineer Dania has had about 50 years’ experience in the Oil/Gas & Power industry with Shell, home and abroad and in private consultancy. In the period he acquired and deployed managerial competences in diverse areas.   Engr. Dania retired from Shell Nigeria in 2008 as General Manager, Corporate Engineering, with responsibility for Governance and performance of the Engineering practice, and a portfolio of Oil/Gas and Infrastructure projects with over 500 staff..   He was the pioneer Project Manager for the $2.2 billion Gbaran/Ubie Integrated Oil/Gas/Power Project, setting up a Project team, proudly comprising mostly Nigerians, to develop 120,000 b/day oil, and 1,000 MMscf/d gas supply to Bonny LNG and the Bayelsa IPP. The project was at the time, the largest Shell project in sub-Sahara Africa.   He had earlier managed several Associated Gas Gathering (AGG) projects targeted to reduce gas flaring in SPDC operations.   Engr. Dania was commended for successful projects delivery, despite the challenging local environment, and for his management of the interfaces with Joint Venture Partners, regulators, and host Communities. As the External Relations Manager, he was part of developing new strategies for addressing the increasing Community hostilities by partnering with Govt and Communities to shift emphasis from community assistance to sustainable development.   Engr Dania incorporated AVODAN Project & Engineering Services Ltd in 2008 to provide Project Management, Engineering Consultancy and Training services to local Petroleum companies. The Company has performed project execution audits & reviews for several Operators, as well as training for staff of NNPC, (ex)DPR and other groups and individuals. AVODAN recently participated in an Audit by the Federal Ministry of Transportation into NPA’s Terminal Operators compliance with their Concession Agreements. The Company is also presently developing an end-of-field-life Decommissioning and Abandonment Plan for a Marginal Fields Operator. Engr. Dania has held several professional appointments and won awards/recognitions including for distinguished leadership role in achieving industrial harmony by Shell MD. He was Chairman, Fund-raising Committee for NSE (PH) Secretariat project, Member; Standards & Codes Committee, NIMechE, Member Board of Directors; NSEPH Limited and Governing Board, Rivers State University. He has been at different times Board Chairman of Eraskonergy Oil & Gas, Principia Nig Ltd, Greenfields Metals Nigeria Ltd; and Alternate Chairman OPI International, Nig Ltd.   Engineer Dania is COREN-registered and is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Mentoring and Career Development Institute (FMCDI).   He has won many awards and recognitions from several bodies, including the Dioceses of the Anglican Church, several Rotary Club chapters, NIPR, and the Rivers State Tennis Association among several others.   Sir Victor Dania is married and blessed with 4 sons and grandchildren.
