Sir Engr. Dr. Ezekiel Bababunmi Coker was born to the family of Mr. Emmanuel Bamidele Coker and Deaconess Esther Olufunke Coker both of blessed memory, on 15th November 1963 in Lagos, Lagos State. He attended the Federal University of Technology, Bauchi, which is now known as the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), where he bagged his B. Eng Degree in Civil Engineering. In 1988, he started his professional engineering practice with Messrs. ARON (Nigeria) Limited and he supervised the construction of Political Party Office Building in Badagry, Lagos State, construction of Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation F. M. Studio, construction of Ogun State Ministry of Establishment Building Complex, Oke Mosan, construction of Ogun State Cultural Centre, Kuto, construction of European Economic Community Sponsored Hospital Equipment Maintenance Workshop, Idi Aba and design and construction of a duplex residential building, Idi Aba, all in Abeokuta, Ogun State. In 1991, he joined the services of the Federal Capital Development Authority, Abuja and handled the construction of the Provision of Infrastructural Facilities to the Supreme Court Judges’ Quarters in Asokoro District, construction of the Provision of Infrastructural Facilities to Asokoro District, construction of the Provision of Infrastructural Facilities to Bwari Satellite Town Districts 1 and 2, construction of the Provision of Infrastructural Facilities to Kubwa Satellite Town Districts 4 and 5, construction of 26Km length of Bwari – Kau road. As a 2002 M. Eng degree holder, he was nominated by the Foreign Affairs Ministry to participate in a 2 – year Technical Aid Corps Programme in Freetown Sierra Leone as a Civil/Structural Engineering Lecturer to the Department of Civil Engineering and Building Services of Milton Margai College of Education and Technology (MMCET), Congo Cross Campus and Fourah Bay College (FBC) of the University of Sierra Leone, both in Freetown. Back home in Nigeria in 2004, he was moved to the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and enrolled for a Ph.D. degree at the Federal University of Technology, Minna and in 2015, successfully earned his Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering, majoring in Structural Engineering. He rose to become the Director of Civil Engineering, Regional Infrastructure (RI), Department of STDD. He served the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) at the Abuja Branch level as Social Secretary, Financial Secretary, Chairman, Mobilization Committee and Chairman of the Branch (2016-2018) and at the National level as Member, Admissions Committee, Member, Local Organizing Committee NSE @ 50, Member, Membership Board. He is currently a member of the NSE Board of Fellows. He was recognized for his immense and selfless services to Abuja Branch with the Certificate of Service, Chairman’s Honours Award, Chairman’s Merit Award and with the Knighthood of John Wesley (KJW) by the Methodist Church Nigeria in 2023. Sir Engr. Dr. Ezekiel Bababunmi Coker, FNSE is married to Lady Natasha Unwana Coker and the union is blessed with three beautiful girls.
