Arthur Ekwue was born on 11 October 1954 and attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he obtained his B.Sc degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with First class honours in 1978; he was awarded the Departmental prize for the best graduating student. After NYSC, in 1979, he was admitted to Imperial College London on Commonwealth Scholarship and awarded the PhD degree in June 1982. He obtained MBA degree in 1994 from City, University of London.
Arthur has held posts at Imperial College – under the Royal Society Fellowship scheme; Queen Mary, University of London – Science Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow; University of Port-Harcourt and FUTO. Arthur joined the Central Electricity Research Laboratories, Leatherhead in 1989 and after over 30 years retired as a Divisional Director with Jacobs Engineering.
Arthur has published over 150 research papers, he is co-author of a book: “Artificial Intelligence Techniques in Power Systems” published in 1997 by the Institution of Electrical Engineers and author of “Worked Examples in Power Systems Engineering” (University of Nigeria Press Ltd, 2015). He is currently a Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor, Brunel University London.
Arthur is a Fellow, Institution of Electrical Engineers (now known as IET) – 2003; Senior Member, IEEE – 1989 with Life membership – 2020; Chartered Engineer, Engineering Council – 1988; COREN Registered Engineer – 1986.
Arthur is married to Dr Uchechukwu Ekwue, and they have three adult children.
