Engr. Umar Gambo Jibrin, hails from Kontagora, in Kontagora Local Government Area of Niger State. He attended the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he graduated with a Bachelor of Engineering (B. Eng) Degree, Second Class in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. He started his career in FCDA and rose through the ranks to become the Pioneer Director of Mass Housing and Public Private Partnerships in 2009. Due to his professional and managerial excellence, he was appointed as the Executive Secretary (ES), Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in 2017 by the former President, Muhammad Buhari, GCFR. As Executive Secretary, he exhibited purposeful and committed leadership, along with the pool of professionals and the complimentary Departments and Agencies such as Land Administration, Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS), Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB), FCT Water Board (FCTWB) among others saw to the provision of world class expressways, various road networks, water and sewage facilities as well as numerous environmentally friendly services that transverse the Abuja landscape. After the expiration of his tenure as the Executive Secretary, he was again appointed into the Board of the Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) by the former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, in December 2022 until the dissolution of the Board in June 2023. Engr. U. G. Jibrin, an astute professional Engineer, has contributed immensely and served the Engineering Profession in various capacities as the Chairman, Nigerian Society of Engineers, (NSE) Abuja Branch, Chief Examiner, NSE Abuja Centre, Chief Inspector, Engineering Regulations and Monitoring (ERM) of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and he is currently a Member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), Nigerian Society of Engineers. He has been recognized for his selfless and tireless services to the Nigerian Society of Engineers with the Distinguished Merit Award, NSE Kano Branch, Chairman’s Merit Award, NSE Abuja Branch, Two-time NSE Presidential Merit Award and the prestigious National Honors Award of Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON).   He is currently a member of Kontagora Emirate Council with the traditional title of ZARUMAN Kontagora, conferred on him by His Royal Highness Alhaji Muhammad Barau Mu’azu II, the Emir of Kontagora in Niger State.
