Engr. Prof. Stephen Jackdell MALLO was born in Bokkos, Plateau State, Nigeria in the year 1956. He had his secondary and higher school certificate education at Government Secondary School, Katsina-Ala and Federal School of Arts and Science, Sokoto respectively. He holds a Master of Science and Ph.D degrees from the St. Petersburg Mining Institute, Russia, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of International Affairs & Diplomacy (MIAD) from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria respectively. Prof. Mallo attended the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies Kuru, in 2003 and served meritoriously as the Monitor General of his Sec 25.   His working carrier started in 1983 with the Department of Mining Engineering, Kaduna Polytechnic where he rose to the position of Chief Lecturer in 2000 from where he was appointed Rector /Chief Executive of the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barkin-Ladi. The achievements recorded during the eight years of Prof. Mallo's leadership was unprecedented. Academic programmes rose from a modest number of 21 National Diploma programmes and 2 Higher National Diploma programmes in 2000 when he assumed office, to 31 ND and 15 HND programmes by 2008 at the end of his second tenure as Rector. During his stewardship, 10 new Academic Departments were established to include the Departments of Mineral Resources Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering and Foundry Technology. Prof. Mallo served with distinguished accomplishments earning him a National Award of Member Order of the Niger (MON) by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2009. He has to his credit 38 published works in National and International Journals in addition to over 100 conference papers and has authored some books in Mining Engineering. He has mentored many postgraduate students and has assessed several professorial Chairs in Nigeria and abroad.   Gravity Magnetic and Soil Biogeochemistry research in conjunction with Esso-Mobil in 2014 and a research collaboration  with  the  Federal  Ministry of  Mines  and  Steel  Development  on the Documentation of the Impact of Mining on the Jos Plateau, Naraguta Sheet 189 NE in 2020. He establishment of Faculty of Engineering at the University of Jos in 2013 with the first set of Students graduating in 2020. He was Head of Departments of Geology and Mining Engineering, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, University of Jos. He has also been Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Plateau State University Bokkos. Prof. Stephen Mallo is the first Professor of Mining Engineering north of the Niger and has served in Accreditation Boards of many Nigerian and Foreign Universities/Polytechnics. Member, National Committee for the establishment of the Roadmap for the Development of Minerals in Nigeria which was commissioned in 2016 by the Federal Executive Council; Professor Stephen J. Mallo has been a Board Member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria where he chaired some Committees foremost amongst which is the COREN Investigation Panel for Collapsed Buildings in Nigeria.   He is a registered engineer with the Council for Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, a Fellow of Nigerian Society of Engineers and a chartered Manager amongst several others. Prof. Mallo is a widower, has two Children, Stephen Mallo, JR; Elkanah Wash Mallo and a grand Child, Bwehmasi Dollar Mallo.
