Engr.  George Otoh was born on 17^th August, 1965 in Lagos and attended Birch Freeman High School from September 1977 to June 1982. He proceeded to the University of Lagos and studied Chemical Engineering (1988), and later obtained an MBA for Webster University in the Netherlands (2006). While in Birch Freeman, He was the President of the Science Club and won laurels for the school.

He has over 35yrs experience in Upstream Oil & Gas Industry. He started his career in Port Harcourt with Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) as a trainee Reservoir Engineer after NYSC assignment in 1989. In 2002 he proceeded on cross posting to the Netherlands as a Senior Reservoir Engineer with Shell International Exploration and Production. In 2008, he returned to SPDC Port Harcourt as Front-End Project Manager for Unitisation/Equity Determination studies. And in 2012, he was transferred to SNEPCo Lagos as the Bonga South West Aparo (BSWA) Front-End Project Manager. In 2016 became the BSWA Venture Manager and later Subsurface Development Manager.  Over the years, he has worked various leadership roles in, Exploration Prospect evaluation, Field Development Planning, Asset Development Studies, Wells-Reservoir-Field Management and other senior management roles, both in Nigeria and the Netherlands. He retired from Shell September 2021.

Engr. Otoh was a member of the Shell team that developed the 1st successful Gravity Dumpflood project (Low Cost Pressure Maintenance) for Oil Development in Nigeria.  He was a Subject Matter Expert on Unitisation/Equity Determination for the Shell Group. A member of the Shell Global Unitisation Community of Expertise. He has written technical papers which he presented at professional conferences in North America, Europe and Asia. He co-authored the existing Shell Group Guidelines for Unitisation/Equity Determination and later provided inputs to the then DPR (now NUPRC) Unitisation Guidelines for Nigeria.

Engr. Otoh received Shell International E&P, Global Development Award for “Technical Coach of the Year” 2013, Winner for the Shell International E&P Upstream Impact Award for leading the “Most Competitive Project Category” for a Deepwater Asset in Shell in 2017, Winner for the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers “Presidential Merit Award” in 2015. He is a devout Christian of the Catholic faith and member of the Knight of the Columbus (KofC) order in Canada.

Engr George Otoh is a foundation member Petroleum Upstream Sectoral group (PUSG), a sub-committee of the NSChE.  He coordinated the NSChE National review of the then PIB (now PIA) with focus on Upstream Development and Unitisation. He is currently the Sectoral Coordinator for the NSChE Petroleum Upstream Sectoral Group.

He is a COREN Registered Engineer. Fellow, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers. Senior Members, Society of Petroleum Engineers, American Society of Chemical Engineers, Association of International Energy Petroleum Negotiators. 

Engr. George Otoh is happily married with children.
