Born at Oguta On 2nd June 1955 to Mr. & Mrs. B.N. Chukwuogo of Awka, Anambra State, Keluo started his engineering career in Delta Steel Company Limited, Aladja in 1979 after completing a Post Graduate Diploma program in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in the University of Lagos. Over the next ten years, he worked in various capacities in the company, during which he did an M.Sc Program in Mechanical Engineering in the Unversity of Lagos.
In order to realize his potentials, he left the "Safe" working environment of Delta Steel and set out to incorporate Boskel Nigeria Limited with the goal to develop solutions to some of the process industry problems that occur in Nigeria.
The first major engineering opportunity came in the form of smoky flaring of gases with the consequent pollution of the environment. Over the next 2-years, he developed and patented a smokeless flare system which was successfully introduced to Shell Petroleum Development Company Limited (SPDC), following which the company carried out a systematic replacement of all their smoky flares with the patented Boskel smokeless flare system.
When SPDC effected gas gathering from their fields for the LNG Project, it became necessary to modify the Boskel Flare System. Hence a new system was developed which had a very high turn-down ratio: with the capability to operate satisfactorily at extremely low flow rates as well as high flow rates.
This model of Boskels flare system was exported to the Sultanate of Oman over a 6-year period. (from 2006 to 2012) and is currently being used in many vertical flare installations in Nigeria.
The problem of disposal of wastes was then tackled by developing the Boskel Rotary Kiln Incinerators and Accessories. These have been deployed in various teaching hospitals as well as industrial and municipal waste treatment facilities in the country. Boskels thermal desorption system which is used in the treatment of oil-contaminated soils and sludges was also developed in response to the need of the industry.
Ten years into the works in Boskel, Keluo undertook another M.Sc. Program in Process Systems Engineering at the prestigious Cranfield University. This was quickly followed by a Ph.D in Process Systems Engineering from the same institution.
Some of the other engineering developments made and commercialized by Engr. Keluo Chukwuogo are listed below;
