Born on 19^th August 1931, in Ijebu – Igbo Ogun State. Engr. Dr. Joseph Olawole Shojobi attended Holy Trinity Ebute– Ero and Christ Church Cathedral School in Lagos. He had his Secondary education in Kings College Lagos. He was admitted into the University of Ibadan and later Nottingham University for his first Degree (B.Sc in Civil Engineering) in 1957. Dr. Shojobi had his post-graduate experience with Harrow Borough Council in Middlesex United Kingdom between 1957-1959.  He was awarded the International Road Federation Scholarship to study for the Master Degree in Highway and Traffic Engineering in Birmingham University in 1959-1960.  He returned to Nigeria and was employed as one of the Foundation Lecturers in Technical College Ibadan.  He later joined the Civil service of the Western Region as a Civil Engineer in the Ministry of Works and Housing. In 1962, he was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship to the University of Birmingham for a Doctorate degree in Transportation and Environmental Planning which he completed in 1964.

Dr. Shojobi was appointed a Lecturer at the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1964.  During his stay at the University, he acted as Head of Civil Engineering Department and also as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering. He was employed as a Lecturer at the University of Lagos from where he retired voluntarily in 1976. After retiring from the University of Lagos he founded his own Civil Engineering Consultancy Firm Civtra International of which he is the Managing partner to date. Dr. Shojobi service to the Engineering Profession in Nigeria and abroad span over a period of five decades.  During this period he has been involved in over 300 Engineering Projects. Some of the projects undertaken by his Firm of Engineers include the following; National Highway Inventory commissioned by the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing. Design of Alhaji Masha Bridges commissioned by Lagos State Government, Design of Bridge on Badagry by Festac commissioned by Federal Housing Authority. Consultancy study of Integrated Waste Management Facility for Lagos State, commissioned by Federal Ministry of Environment. Consultancy/supervision of major contractors executing road projects for and on behalf of Petroleum Trust Fund. Dr. Shojobi participated actively in International Road Federation and other Conferences at home and abroad through keynote addresses and conference papers.

He served in various capacity on the Boards of Private and Public Organizations such as the Transportation Committee of Nigerian Society of Engineers which he served as Chairman and by convention he became a member of the Council of the Society and during the period, he was Chairman of Transportation Committee.  He was appointed Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Road Safety set up by the Federal Government on 1967. The Committee submitted a comprehensive report which recommended among other innovations, the setting up of the present Federal Road Safety Commission. He was a member of the Committee set up by the Federal Government to organize and oversee hitch-free and smooth change from driving on the left to driving on the Right in 1969. He was appointed a member of the Board of Directors of Ogun State Housing Corporation in 1986-1988.  In 1985 he was elected as the President of the Nigerian Road Federation a Chapter of the International Road Federation.  The Federation apart from being a Road lobby, advises the Government on various aspects of highway development in the country.  He was a member of the Board of Directors of Guffanti Nig. Ltd.  He is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Halliburton a position he has held for the past ten years. Engr. (Dr.) Shojobi is a  COREN Registered Engineer and Fellow, Nigeria Society of Engineers.
