Engr. Dr. Mohammed Jibrin was born in Kano on 1st March, 1964. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering Degree, Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy all in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.
He started his career with The Water Resources and Engineering Construction Agency (WRECA), as Project Engineer II in 1989 and rose to the rank of General Manager of the Agency in 2002. He actively participated in the construction of infrastructure developmental projects from conception to completion stages during the period.
Engr. Dr. Jibrin joined the services of the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology in 2005 and was deployed to the Technology Incubation Centre (TIC) Kano as the Director/Centre Manager. During his tenure, TIC Kano witnessed impressive progress especially in terms of entrepreneurs’ (admissions, graduations & extension services), institutional / industry linkages, capacity building, jobs creation initiatives and clients’ patronage from his assumption of office in 2005. He also co-ordinated the Zonal activities within Northern parts of Nigeria. On the expiration of the tenure of his predecessor, Engr. Dr. Jibrin was appointed as the Acting Director General/CEO of the National Board for Technology Incubation (NBTI) in June, 2013.
A COREN Registered Engineer, Engr. Dr. Jibrin is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a Fellow of the Institute of Industrialist and Corporate Administrators, a Fellow of the Institute of Public Administrators, a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants as well as Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management. As a result of his keen interest in Science, Technology & Innovation activities, the Engineer who is a recipient of many awards and commendations, was unanimously elected by the African delegation as the Chairman of the Council of the African Continent for the Pan African Competitiveness Forum on 15th August, 2014 at Bagamoyo in Tanzania for the tenure (2014 – 2017).
Due to his commitment to Research & Development, Commercialization, Intellectual Property Culture Promotion and Academic Excellence in line with the mandate of NBTI, the personality has to his credit, over 40 outstanding publications comprising international journal papers, conference presentations, patent registrations and technical reports which are mostly literary contributions related to Technology Incubation Programme. Some of the patent registrations by the Engineer were ceded at no cost to the TIC entrepreneurs and the innovations attracted grants from The Presidential Standing Committee on Inventions and Innovations (PSCII).
Happily married to Hajiyas Amina and Bilkisu with children, his major priorities as the Director General/CEO of NBTI include capacity building to the staff and entrepreneurs, refocusing of TICs towards production of innovative products, jobs creation, strengthening of institutional linkages, publicity and general personnel motivation.
