ENGR. DR. N. J. D. ERINNE
Dr. John Erinne, born on 13 December, 1953, attended the renowned Government Secondary School, Afikpo, passing out in 1971 in Grade I with Distinction (8 aggregates). He graduated with a 2nd Class Upper degree in Chemical Engineering in 1977 from the University of Lagos; and obtained M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering with distinction in September 1979 from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK; and a PhD in Chemical Engineering in July 1982 from Loughborough University of Technology.
John joined CAPL (Chemical and Allied Products Ltd) as Process Engineer in September 1982. In 3-years, he left a distinguished track record of achievements as Process Manager in initiating and executing several process efficiency improvement projects, commissioning new paint plants and carrying out vital project studies for an Automotive Putty Plant and a Resin Plant.
John was Head of TEXACO Nigeria Ltd LPG Marketing (1985 – 87) and Production / Plant Manager (1987 – 1995). He made sterling contributions to the growth of TEXACO: he spearheaded the upgrade and modernization of the Lube Oil Plant, Bulk Loading facility; led the team that commissioned the first Petroleum Jelly Plant in Nigeria; established an enduring Materials Management System for the TEXACO Apapa Complex; initiated and executed an impactful market development strategy based on the design and installation of bulk LPG storage facilities on rental for industrial consumers and retail bottlers; and superintended the operations of the Lube Oil, Greases and Plastics process plants. In recognition of his spectacular performance, John won the TEXACO Latin America/West Africa (LA/WA) Division President Award in 1991.
He left TEXACO in 1995 and founded MATRIX Petro-Chem Ltd that has become a respectable Oil and Gas service company, actively involved in the area of Oilfield Chemicals, Laboratory and Pipeline Services and Lubricants/Lubrication. John also founded the firm of CHEX & Associates, a vibrant Industrial and Energy consultancy that guided NLNG in the successful implementation of the project that led to the dramatic growth in the Nigerian LPG Sub-Sector, from 50 MTPA of LPG in 2007 to a vibrant 400 MTPA market by 2015, a growth of 700 percent.
A recipient of numerous local and international awards, John is very actively involved in the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers and was elected President of the society (2011 – 2012), a position he held very meritoriously. He is at present the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Society’s Foundation (NSChEF), and the Chairman of its International Affairs Committee. John is also a member of the NSE Board of Fellows.
He was a member / Secretary of the Federal Government’s Special Task Force on the Refineries (STFR) in 2012, that delivered a very comprehensive report for extensive reforms in the Refineries and entire Petroleum Downstream Sector.
John, a COREN registered Engineer, with numerous professional publications is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers; and currently serves on several Boards and as the Chairman of VITAVISCO Ltd, a subsidiary of VITAFOAM Plc.
