Born on the 26th June, 1939, Engineer Dr. Olufemi Lalude attended the Ibadan Grammar School before proceeding to the University of Minnesota in the United States and the University of California where he obtained B. Sc. and M. Sc. Mechanical Engineering in the former and Ph. D. in Mechanical Engineering in the latter in 1969.
On leaving school, Engineer Lalude worked as junior and later as Research Engineer at the College of Engineering, University of California, Los Angeles before joining Bechtel Corporation as a Mechanical Engineer working on a fast breeder nuclear power plant in North-East Pennsylvania. He later joined Shell Petroleum Development Corporation where he worked in various departments and rose to the position of General Manager before retiring in December 1996. Since January 1997, he has been managing his own firm-Elkgrove Ventures Ltd., a petroleum consulting firm with concentration in the areas of technical and management services.
Engr. Lalude is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, a past Chairman of the Mechanical Division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and has published several articles in learned journals. He is a foundation Fellow of the Academy.
