Samuel Nnaemeka Anyakora was born in Ogidi in Anambra State on 16th March 1943.
He attended Government Secondary School, Afikpo for his WASC and HSC finishing in 1963, thereafter, proceeded to read Chemical Engineering at Loughborough University of Technology, UK.from1964 to 1971.
He graduated with Bachelor of Technology, 1st Class Honours in 1968 and PhD in 1971.He won the Best Student Award in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Loughborough in 1966 and Award for the best Student paper published in a College Journal, by the Midlands Branch of The Institution of Chemical Engineers in 1968.
His 1971 PhD Thesis on the "Malfunction of Process Instruments and its Detection Using Process Control Computer "is well referenced in the collection of papers on The Process Operator, edited by Elwyn Edwards and Frank P Lees that was published as a book "The Human Operator in Process Control" in 1974 by Taylor and Francis, Limited.
He worked in Dunlop Nigeria Plc from October 1971 and retired as the 1st Nigerian Director of Tyre Manufacturing (1988-1998).He was responsible for the successful execution of the Modernisation and Expansion Car Radial Tyre production project that launched DUNLOP ELITE TYRES.
He ventured into Manufacturing after retirement as the Coordinating and Pioneer Managing Director of VITAL GASES LIMITED, OTTA from where he retired in 2004.
The Company was established with 2 Chemical Engineers as Core of other Investors to produce Industrial and Medical grade Oxygen using both the American Air Separation PSA and Indian mini-Cryogenic process plants. It also blended Chemtane2 gas as a superior and safer alternative to Oxy-Acetylene gas.
He is a Past President of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers 2003-2004 and remains an active Council Member.
He is married with 4 Children 2 of whom are Chemical Engineers.
