ENGR. DR. SIR J. I. FOLAYAN
Born in Kwara State on the 1st of July, 1939, Engr (Dr.) Sir Joseph Ibikunle Folayan attended Titcombe college, Egbe where he obtained the West African School Certificate in Grade One. He obtained his Advanced level General Certificate of Education (GCE) from Federal Emergency Science School, Onike, Lagos. He attended Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and later went to University of Southern California, Los Angeles under the auspices of the ASPAU programme- African Scholarship Programme of American Universities where he graduated in 1965, thereafter, he proceeded to the prestigious Stanford University where he obtained the Master of Science (1966), the Engineer degree (1967) and the Ph. D. degree (1969) all in Civil Engineering.
Engr. Folayan, while studying as an undergraduate at the University of Southern California (USA) was attached to LeRoy Crandall and Associates, a leading private sector consulting engineering firm in Los Angeles. He also worked on part time with a multinational company, Dimes & Moore with offices in Redwood City and Sea Francisco near Stanford during his post graduate days in Stanford. Between 1966 and 1971, Dr. Folayan had diversified experiences in the field of foundation engineering and applied earth Sciences in the USA, Primarily in California. During the past 34 years, he has directed over 600 projects covering every state of Nigeria in the geotechnical, agricultural, transportation, housing and environmental engineering for both the public and private sectors.
Engr. (Dr.) Folayan is a Director in Commissioning Solutions Global Inc. (Commsol Global, Inc) with its head office in Mandeville, L.A. USA, where they provide final engineering design capabilities in the oil/Gas and Petrochemical industry. He has served on the Board of several organizations. He is a Foundation member and immediate past President of Association of Consulting Engineers, he has served in every standing committee of the association. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers.
