8.ENGR. (MRS.) CHRISTIANA O. ADELOWO

ENGR. (MRS) CHRISTY ADELOWO, FNSE, is a meticulous and resourceful chartered civil engineer with a remarkable record of achievement and professionalism. She has worked mainly in the private sector and has extensive experience in Highway Design, Contract Procurement and Civil Engineering Construction Management.

Born on November 23, 1953, she has a B.Eng degree in Civil Engineering from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1975) and M.Sc degree in Highways & Transportation (1982) from the City University, London and lives in Lagos.

She started her career at Comprehensive Engineering Consultants in 1976 then Etteh Aro & Partners, Ibadan as Junior Engineer in 1978. 

She proved her ability to work and contributed to teamwork under the direction of the Principal Partners and Senior Engineers in infrastructure planning and designs, construction management and supervision of various challenging projects including Surveys and Designs of Phase 1 works of Regional Roads Network Abuja for the Federal Capital Development Authority, Designs of Road, River and Interchange Bridges for Onitsha - Enugu Motorway for the Federal Ministry of Works.

She started Fechrad Nig. Ltd, a civil engineering company with a mission to provide the highest quality service in the areas of civil engineering infrastructures.

She is responsible for the overall management and strategic planning for the company, including management of operations, technical supervision and coordinating the training and mentoring of engineers.

She coordinated the timely delivery of several Drilling locations under the Call-off Contracts for Preparation of Locations of Workover Locations /Major reconstruction on Dryland and Construction of Access Roads to Drilling Locations for SHELL Port Harcourt (2001 -2006)

A major  achievement was coordinating the Design and Construction of Access Roads to  Ogbele Location and Flow Station, Reconstruction of  Drilling Locations and provision of all Civil Facilities at the Flow Station for  Niger Delta Petroleum Resources, Nigeria’s foremost indigenous Oil and Gas Explorer (2004 - 2005)

She successfully administered contracts under Joint Venture Partnerships including Rehabilitation of Ede Headworks for Osun State Government by PCI Africa –Fechrad JV (2013 -2015) and Contract for Supply and Laying of Pipes and Fittings, Installations of Kiosks & Road Rehabilitation for Cross Rivers State Government by  WK Pty– Fechrad JV (2007)

She was admitted to the Nigerian Society of Engineers in 1985 and elected a Fellow in 1996.  She served NSE as National Exco member, Vice President (2002, 2003), Assistant Treasurer (1992) and Un-Official member, (1988-1992, 2000).  She has been involved in several activities for the NSE including events planning, fundraising, mentoring and promotion of NSE membership.

She served as Member, Board of Fellows (2015 to date), member, Board of Trustees (2008-2017), member, Board of NSE Ventures Limited (2014 to date), Chairman, Group Dynamics for Divisions (2018), Chairman, Conference Planning Committee (CPC) (2002, 2003).

As Chairman, 2002 CPC, she demonstrated innovation in introducing for the first time, on-site bank cashiers to process payments of registration fees and dues and use of refreshment vouchers at National Engineering Conferences. These eliminated revenue loss and ensured all registered attendees were served refreshments.  

As a member of BOT, she played a major role in the reconstitution of the Board of NSE Ventures Limited, and the repositioning of the company.

Christy is a recipient of several awards including NSE Presidential Merit Award (2001, 2002, 2003, 2011), NICE Meritorious Service award (2008), APWEN Distinguished Leadership / Merit Awards (2002, 2007).
