Born on the 19th of November 1952 in Ijebu-Imushin, Ogun State. His early life started in Ibadan, where he attended the Abadina Primary School and the International School, both inside the campus of the University of Ibadan before proceeding to the University of Lagos in 1970 to study Electrical Engineering.

He graduated from the University of Lagos with an Honours Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1973 and was posted to the then East Central State as a pioneer member of the NYSC. Upon completion of his NYSC, he applied to and was given an appointment by the Western Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation (WNBS-WNTV), later NTA. He spent 4 years there within that period he progressed from an Assistant Engineer in the television studio, through to Principal Engineer Studios, to Acting Assistant Director of Engineering (Projects, Research and Development). He was responsible for the design of Colour Television Studios, design and construction of compact outside-broadcast van and was a member of the Nation-wide T.V. Colourisation Committee.

In 1978, he left the NTA, to join Oscar Faber Nigeria, a firm of Consulting Engineers. He was initially posted to Oscar Faber and Partners, St. Albans U.K. and within the period of one year, he became a Project Team Leader and successfully led teams that were involved in the designs of various projects in the United Kingdom.

He returned to Nigeria in June 1979 and became a Partner of Oscar Faber Nigeria, later Biobaku Faber and Partners) in 1981, sharing responsibility for the practice and its current projects, with particular responsibility for all Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Services aspect of the firm’s work.

In 1985 he started the firm of ‘Kunle Ogunbayo and Associates, now KOA Consultants ltd. The firm has taken part in Major landmark Developments in Nigeria and Ghana, including the new domestic terminal at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Tinapa Business Resort, Calabar, and Maersk House, Ghana. This firm has grown to become one of the biggest Consultancy Practices in Nigeria.

Engr. Ogunbayo is past chairman of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Nigeria Chapter, Past President of the Association of Consulting Engineers Nigeria and Past President of COREN. He is also on the Governing Board of the International Scientific Technology and Innovation Centre for South-South Cooperation, a UNESCO sponsored Centre in Malaysia. He has also been honoured with many awards, including the Construction Industry Hall of Fame, Professional Excellence Foundation of Nigeria and has received numerous other awards for his contributions to society and the profession.

Engr. Ogunbayo is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Lagos and is a Major donor and Benefactor to the Rotary Foundation. He is also a mentor to young engineer.
