ENGR. J. J. AKPIEYI

Engr. Joseph Jemine Akpieyi was born on the 28th February, 1939. He attended Government College Ugheli, Delta State from 1954-1961 and obtained B.Sc. Hons degree in Chemistry from the University of Ibadan in 1965 and a  Post graduate Diploma in Chemical Engineering from University of Surrey, U.K in 1968. He earned the Executive Management Certificate in Columbia University, USA in 1981 and BSI Management Systems Lead Auditors Certificate in 2003.

Engr. Akpieyi was a Research Officer (Mines & Power), 1965-66; Petroleum Engineer (Petroleum Resources), 1969-71; Head, Refining & Marketing Division (Petroleum Resources), 1973-76; Chief Petroleum Engineer/Head of Commercial Marketing Division (NNPC), 1977-78; Head of Products Marketing Division (NNPC), 1980; Ag. General Manager/CEO, Nigerian Petroleum Refining Company (NPRC), Port Harcourt, 1980-82; General Manager/CEO, NPRC, Port Harcourt, 1982-85; General Manager, Pipelines & Products Marketing Division, NNPC, 1985; General Manager, Pipelines Operations Division, NNPC, 1985-88; First Managing Director, Warri Refining & Petrochemicals Co. Ltd., 1988-90; Managing Director, National Engineering & Technical Co. Ltd (NNPC/Bechtel Joint Venture) 1990-91

Engr. Akpieyi was a Western Nigeria regional scholar in (1954-59) and (1962-65) and a British Council scholar between 1967 and 1969. He was awarded NNPC Board of Directors Merit Certificate Award for leadership excellence in 1983. He attended various management courses locally and abroad and served the nation in variety of capacities.
Engr. Akpieyi is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a Past President of the Nigerian Society of Chemical Engineers.
